Outside Jewelry Policies

We are happy to help with the insertion of jewelry for your piece of mind!

We appreciate your trust in working with your body and take our role in facilitating your journey in self-adornment very seriously. While most insertions go as planned, we want you to be fully informed of any potential risks before we move forward with your service. Please feel free to reach out with any questions on the below!

General Policies:

Jewelry that was not purchased through our studio (“outside jewelry”) will be inserted for a $20 fee to cover supplies and labor. This fee allows for one session of up to four separate pieces of jewelry to be inserted by one of our piercers. Quantities exceeding four will incur additional fees at the discretion of your piercer, depending on complexity of the service.

Safety Overview:

All employees are trained to identify proper body jewelry designs, and all employees must refuse installing ANY piece of jewelry that seems inappropriate for the piercing (wrong design/style/gauge/poor finish/etc.). Our responsibility of looking out for the wellbeing of your piercings means that we must refuse anything that could harm you!

This means we will not knowingly:

  • Install outside jewelry in fresh or irritated piercings
  • Install outside jewelry in any surface piercings
  • Install externally threaded jewelry in any piercings, regardless of material or source
  • Install any jewelry where the wearable surface is visibly bent or scratched, or is made of a material that is blatantly unsafe for long-term wear, such as (but not limited to) acrylic, copper, or brass
  • Install any jewelry that was worn by anyone other than you for safety and sanitation reasons

Breakage and repairs:

Most of the industry's reputable manufacturers offer a lifetime warranty on any manufacturer’s defects.

If your jewelry was purchased at another reputable piercing/APP studio:

The studio where the jewelry was originally purchased will be the best equipped to help you process a repair! In some cases, we may be able to assist with repairs if the jewelry is from a manufacturer we already work with. Any associated cost will be paid by the client. Once a total is determined, we will send you an invoice via email.

If your jewelry was not purchased through another piercing studio:

We are not responsible for damage that occurs during insertion/removal and are unable to assist in the repair process. Please reach out to the original vendor for support and assistance with their respective policies regarding damage

Rings/chains/charms:

While we love the look of these in piercings, they can cause issues due to several reasons such as poor fit, switching too soon, etc. Skin irritation and irritation bumps are the most common. If these issues arise, please reach out to us to figure out the best course of action — often this will involve switching back to a stud!

If a piercing is showing signs of active irritation, we will likely decline to insert rings/charms/chains.

For clarification on what we mean by reputable/verifiable in the following section, please visit the FAQ section of our website for lots of helpful information!

Cleaning Jewelry prior to insertion:

If your jewelry was purchased from another reputable piercing/APP studio/verifiable jewelry vendor:

We are happy to help you switch jewelry while your piercings are still healing to avoid disruption of your body’s process. We will sterilize your pieces so that they are as clean as possible before going into your body.

Please let us know if your piece has been previously worn (by you! If it is revealed that someone else wore it, we will decline service) as the sterilization process is more involved and necessitates a longer wait time. In these cases, dropping off jewelry ahead of your scheduled appointment is deeply appreciated! This process looks different for each piece of jewelry, such as softer gems stones vs harder stones, intricacy of designs, etc. While we do our best to minimize the risk of damage to stones, this is an issue that can happen. We will do our absolute best to help resolve any stone loss or damage, should it come up.

For jewelry that does not come from a verifiable source: (eg. Etsy, Body Candy, online boutiques, etc,)

It is common for a seller to claim their jewelry is made of a quality or material that they cannot actually prove.

Due to many unknown variables, it is entirely possible that the jewelry you bring us cannot withstand a rapid steam sterilization cycle in our autoclave, and there is a strong possibility of damage to your jewelry, as well as to our machinery.

Therefore, jewelry that was not purchased at our studio and does not come from a reputable body jewelry vendor, will not be sterilized and will only be inserted into fully healed piercings. A piercer will chat with you and examine your piercing to determine if it is healed.

Any piercing that appears to be actively irritated will not be considered healed, regardless of how old it is.

As part of our procedure, we will perform basic sanitation with an isopropyl alcohol wipe-down, and we will use sterile gloves in the insertion process to ensure maximum cleanliness of the procedure on our end.

If you choose to use our services to insert jewelry that does not come from a reputable manufacturer:

  • You assume any and all risk
  • You accept and understand that Luxe Piercing Boutique and its employees are not responsible for any reactions your body may have to the jewelry you provided, as it was not purchased through our studio and its material and production process are largely unknown.

Should issues arise after insertion of your jewelry, we encourage you to reach out so that we may provide support and suggest alternatives as needed!

Please also note that any unclaimed jewelry left behind at the studio will be discarded after one calendar year
